Day 1 - making a start

It's that time of year again.  That time when everyone talks about giving up chocolate ( or perhaps these days they are all talking about giving up social media - in which case you wont be reading this!!) and the time when I commit to 40 continuous days of blogging in order to focus on the true meaning of Lent and Easter.

This year I've been pondering how to approach the blog and I felt God say  '  Say what you see' - as in Jeremiah Ch 1: 11 ff  ( as opposed to the eighties tv quiz show Catchphrase 😉)  So I thought I might take my camera with me everywhere I go over the next month and see what I manage to catch on film to share with you all.  I'm hoping that as I keep my eyes open for what it is God wants to say I shall see the world in more detail and look with more care.   We tend to rush through life not paying attention.  We drive the same roads, pass the same houses, see the same people day in day out.  It is so easy to stop looking, and stop seeing.  Perhaps we miss the look on someones face or the reflection of the tree in the lake or the sound of a bird singing just because we have become dull in our souls

I wonder if, whilst Jesus was alone in the wilderness with nothing but his own thoughts, He saw things he had never seen before.  Plants and insects, formations in rocks, patterns in the clouds, birds and butterflies.   I suspect His senses were heightened as He strove to hear the voice of God above the verbal assaults of the enemy.   My desire for this period of Lent is that I can spend some part of each day seeing things the way God sees them, appreciating the things He has done and made and hearing His voice above all the other voices .

You are very welcome to join me.

And so we begin.
